After an Illustrious tennis career, winning the US Open as well as Wimbledon Nick Irons takes to drinking and gambling. He soon owes one bookie nearly $26,000. But the bookie is prepared to let him off if he looks after his son and keeps him away from a tennis career. Nick, though, has other ideas when he sees just how good the boy is at tennis. He decides to enter him for 'The Champion's Tournament' in Florida, against the bookie's wishes, and go for the 'million-to-one' shot.
