Six mutants with super powers are locked away in a special institute where, guided by two mutant elders, they will hone their strange powers. They are called into action sooner than expected, however, when a psychopath harnesses a mutant's super-brain in an attempt to manipulate the dream dimension and thus seize control of the world.
