Synopsis

Double bill of classic comedy featuring Lou Abbott and Bud Costello. 'The Naughty Nineties' (1945) depicts a successful Mississippi riverboat in the gay nineties run by Captain Sam (Henry Travers) and two loveable crewmembers Dexter (Abbott) and Sebastian (Costello), popular vaudevillian entertainers. The boat is taken over by the ruthless card sharp Rita Johnson (Bonita Farrow) after she and a pair of crooks swindle Captain Sam in a card school. Their three quarter share in the boat gives them control and they want to turn it into an illegal floating casino. It falls upon Dexter and Sebastian to lend a hand. Famous for having the best film version of their 'who's on first' routine. In 'Time Of Their Lives (1946) Horatio Prim (Lou Costello) and Melody Allen (Marjorie Reynolds) are two Revolutionary War-era ghosts condemned to haunt an old estate until they are proved innocent of charges of treason. When psychiatrist Doctor Greenway (Bud Abbott) arrives as a houseguest, Horatio recognises him as a descendent of his old love rival, and has a great deal of fun tormenting the poor chap. But Greenway soon takes pity on the ghosts, and does his best to help them locate the lost letter from George Washington, which will prove their innocence.
