Synopsis

Triple bill of dramas. In 'An Officer and a Gentleman' (1982), US Navy recruit Zack Mayo (Richard Gere) begins the 13-week basic training course that will qualify him to attend flight school - but he immediately comes into conflict with the tough, no-nonsense Sergeant Foley (Louis Gossett Jr). Foley selects Mayo as the special recipient of his sadistic attentions, but the recruit refuses to be broken and meanwhile finds solace in his developing relationship with local factory girl Paula Pokrifki (Debra Winger). Oscars were won by Louis Gossett Jnr and the theme song 'Up Where We Belong' performed by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes. 'Fatal Attraction' (1987) is a controversial, much-discussed story of infidelity and obsession. Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas), a successful lawyer and happily married man, has a brief fling with business associate Alex Forrest (Glenn Close) - but finds her unwilling to call it off when he decides to return to his family. After a series of humiliating rejections, the spurned woman begins to plan her revenge, leading to a campaign of terror which endangers the lives of Dan, his family... and their pet rabbit. In 'Indecent Proposal' (1993), a down-on-their-luck yuppie couple, Diana and David Murphy (Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson), head for Las Vegas to win back their lifestyle. When they lose their life savings at the tables, their only hope comes from rich gambler John Gage (Robert Redford), who offers them a million dollars if he can sleep with Diana.
