Triple bill of twisted psychological intrigue. Oscar winner Nicolas Cage stars in '8mm' as Tom Welles, a surveillance expert with an inauspicious home-based business. He spends the majority of his time on mundane and respectable work, awaiting the case that will secure his professional reputation. His latest case involves a reel of 8mm film discovered in a dead man's safe which seemingly depicts the murder of a young girl. As Welles investigates further, he becomes increasingly disturbed by the sordid nature of the work. He comes into contact with Max California (Joaquin Phoenix), a streetwise clerk who offers to guide Welles through the illicit world of pornography and snuff movies in order to discover the identity of the deceased girl and her possible murderer. 'Bitter Moon' is a story of erotic obsession from director Roman Polanski. En route to Istanbul, uptight English couple Nigel and Fiona (Hugh Grant and Kristin Scott-Thomas) meet Oscar (Peter Coyote), a wheelchair-bound American writer, and his young French wife Mimi (Emmanuelle Seigner). Oscar begins telling Nigel tales of his erotic, obsessive and sadistic relationship with Mimi, and Nigel is immediately fascinated. However, when Nigel begins to get involved in the couple's erotic games things take a nasty turn. In 'The Eyes of Laura Mars', controversial fashion photographer Laura Mars (Faye Dunaway) has visions in which she predicts several bloody and violent murders. When the police are called in she is stunned to find her kinky photographs echo official photos of real murder scenes. Meanwhile the visions continue - and she realises the killer is now trailing her.
