Classic silent film directed by Georges Méliès. A group of astronomers plan a trip to the moon and after building a bullet-like spaceship they are blasted onto the surface by a cannon. When they arrive, they are quickly introduced to the hostile 'Selenites', an alien species, who capture them and take them to their chief. The film, which is based on Jules Verne's 'From the Earth to the Moon' (1865) and H.G. Wells's 'The First Men in the Moon' (1901) is a light satire of the scientific community at the time of its inception.
