Absolute Power: Series 1 Film Poster

Complete first series of the satirical BBC drama set in the PR industry. The Prentiss McCabe agency is employed by a host of minor celebrities and politicians to present an appealing public profile, and to that end top agents Charles Prentiss (Stephen Fry) and Martin McCabe (John Bird) are willing to stretch the truth to extraordinary degrees. But with an increasingly venal and corrupt clientele, will the agency have to resort to more drastic measures to satisfy its customers? In 'The History Man', the agency has to deal with a television historian with a shocking secret. In 'Pope Idol', while Martin involves the firm in a charity football match to improve their own public profile, the agency acquires a potential archbishop of Canterbury as a new client. 'Tory Woman' sees a low-ranking female Conservative MP hiring Prentiss McCabe to re-launch her image. In 'Mr Fox', Charles helps the Health Secretary keep his job by burying a report about an incident on Hampstead Heath, but then tangles with the government's ruthless spin doctor Colin Priestly (Angus Deayton). 'Country Life' sees Prentiss McCabe taking on a countryside pressure group which is relaunching itself as a viable political party. Finally, in 'Burn and Crash', tension breaks out in the Prentiss McCabe camp as they go to shocking lengths to save the career of a stand-up comedian client caught beating up his girlfriend in an Ikea car park.
