Neeta (Anjela Lauren Smith) is an aspiring singer who struggles to bring up her two children in northwest London with the aid of her mother, Edith (Corinne Skinner-Carter). Byron (Wil Johnson), the father of Neeta's children, is a local reggae star, but his promises to help Neeta with her singing career are never adhered to. Convinced of her talent, Neeta therefore determines to form a band herself with the help of her friends Sharon (Caroline Chikezie) and Yvette (Jocelyn Eisen), but the trio encounter various obstacles to their road to success.
