Synopsis

Paul Giamatti is an award-winning shambles as Barney Panofsky, a fickle TV producer whose three marriages turn out as eventful as his shows, only not quite as successful. Adapted from Canadian author Mordecai Richler’s last novel, Barney’s Version takes a bleakly funny look at the life and romantically rocky times of a self-made fool. Minnie Driver and Rosamund Pike make perfect opposites as wives two and three, while Dustin Hoffman enjoys himself as Barney’s crass but supportive dad. Superbly acted and a wee bit maudlin, it's a bona-fide weepie for men.
