Synopsis

War drama following a group of Swedish-speaking troops fighting in the Continuation War, a conflict between Finland and the Soviet Union that took place during World War II. The film is based on the diaries of platoon leader Harry Järv, played onscreen by Tobias Zilliacus, and endeavours to remain faithful to his memories of the war - to the extent that genuine photographs taken during the battles by Järv are intercut with the live action recreations of the skirmishes which show the leader stopping to take the pictures. With Finland battling to regain substantial territory the Soviet Union had annexed during their 1939 attack on the country - and the power of the Russian Army far exceeding that of their rivals - the skill and courage of the Scandinavian troops would be tested to the limit in the war.
