E. A. Dupont directs this 1930s British drama based on the play by Frank Harvey, who also stars. The story is set in and around a remote lighthouse on the New Zealand coast, where lighthouse keeper William Kell (Harvey) lives with his young wife Eileen (Fay Compton) and his assistant Henry Cass (Edmund Willard). Trouble begins when Eileen has an affair with Cass, before complicating matters further by also taking a shine to Gordon Kingsley (Ian Hunter), the survivor of a local shipwreck. The tension gradually ratchets up to the point where things seem certain to end in violence...
