Synopsis

Robert Altman directs this ensemble piece about a set of unusual goings-on in Holly Springs, Mississippi, a sleepy backwater town where the number one activities are fishing and drinking. It all starts when the wealthy but eccentric Cookie Orcutt is found dead and her relatives start kicking up a fuss about her legacy. Suddenly, the nowhere town finds itself awash with suspicions of murder, and when the police start investigating, all manner of people are drawn into the madness.
