Synopsis

A triple bill of 'giallo' thrillers from Italian horror maestro Dario Argento. In Hitchcockian yarn 'The Bird With the Crystal Plumage' (1969), Argento's directorial debut, American writer Sam Dalmas (Tony Musante) is out walking in Rome when he passes an art gallery and witnesses a mysterious man in a black leather raincoat attempting to murder the gallery owner's wife. The police question Sam, but he finds their methods too slow and soon begins to investigate for himself, trying to track down the killer before he strikes again. Karl Malden stars in 'Cat O' Nine Tails' (1971) as former newsman Franco Arno, who despite being blinded in an accident, has never lost the urge to solve puzzles. When he overhears a blackmail plot, he teams up with an investigative journalist to uncover the truth behind a sinister chain of grisly murders - but their curiosity may prove to be their downfall. Finally, in the classic shocker 'Profondo Rosso' (1975), when a respected psychic is brutally murdered, her pianist neighbour (David Hemmings) teams up with a journalist (Daria Nicolodi) to track down the killer. However, their investigation soon places both their lives in peril when the murderer decides to turn the tables and come after his pursuers...
