Synopsis

Director Wolfgang Petersen raised the bar with this critically acclaimed, rivet-poppingly stunning chronicle of the grim lives of German sailors who crewed the deadly U-Boats during World War Two. Captain Jurgen Prochnow must motivate his depth-charge-shocked crew to action as they head out from La Rochelle in search of Allied convoys. This extended cut allows Petersen the pacing and time to chillingly convey the spirit-sapping combination of boredom, filth and sheer terror of life on board.
