Australian thriller which attempts to tackle the controversy surrounding several Aboriginie 'suicides' while in police custody. Streetwise cop Tony Bourke is sent to a small outback town to complete a routine report on the death of Jimmie Bryant, found hanged whilst in jail. Bourke's orders are clear - keep the affair away from the media and close the case within twenty-four hours. The local police claim that Bryant committed suicide but the investigation exposes a number of inconsistencies. In the face of growing suspicion and hostility, Bourke befriends the victim's brother who was in the cell the night of the death and starts to uncover the truth.
