Double bill of Japanese fantasy adventures based on the manga by Tsugumi Oba and Takeshi Obata. In 'Death Note' (2006), Light Yagami (Tatsuya Fujiwara) is a brilliant-but-bored high school student whose life changes dramatically when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by Ryuk, a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in this book will die. Light sees this book as an opportunity to rid the world of evil, but when criminals mysteriously begin to die, the police call in the help of famous detective L (Ken'ichi Matsuyama). Fujiwara reprises his role as Light in 'Death Note 2: The Last Name' (2006). Light is still being pursued by L, who believes him to be the Death Note killer. Matters are complicated further when another notebook appears and falls into the possession of Misa Amane (Erika Toda), a Japanese pop star and Kira worshipper. Now with the ability to identify anyone else who possesses a notebook, Light realises that his reign as the Kira may soon be coming to an end.
