Biographical drama about the life of Iranian dancer and activist Afshin Ghaffarian. Tired of being told what to do and what not to do by the tyrannical Basij militia, ambitious and outspoken Afshin (Reece Ritchie) decides to set up an underground dance company with friends Elaheh (Freida Pinto) and Ardavan (Tom Cullen). As they hack the government's firewall they manage to locate videos of the likes of Michael Jackson and Gene Kelly whom they watch and learn from. When their dancing abilities develop, Afshin suggests putting on a performance in the desert, out of sight of the Basij. But just what will this act of bravery cost Afshin and his friends?
