Synopsis

Gritty portrayal of the lives of two Indian women who, despite their strikingly different backgrounds, both find themselves exploited by men. Country girl Devaki (Suman Ranganathan) is forced into marriage to a 70-year-old man, and on the wedding night is raped by the brother of her impotent husband to establish the age-old practice of physical dominance of the male over the female. In protest at these archaic feudal practices, Nandini [Perizaad Zorabian], an urban girl and NGO activist who has been working in the village, quits her job and goes back to the city. However, Nandini finds out that the urban life is not so very different when she is fleeced, betrayed and physically used by her lover. When Nandini joins an advertising agency, she is shocked to find out that her feckless father owns the agency - and is keen for Nandini to sleep with one of the clients in order to procure a business deal.
