Paris 1938. Alfred Katz, typographer and poet, is politically active in a Trotskyite group. He attends a wild party being held by Surrealists, where he meets his future wife Mila, a glamorous and uninhibited prostitute. His association with artists creates trouble for him within the group and in addition, Hitler’s Non-Aggression Pact with the Soviet Union has also heightened the tension between local supporters of Trotsky and Stalin. Fifty years later in Paris a woman tries to uncover the secrets of Alfred’s disappearance…
