The tale of a young, gay, working class, unemployed lottery winner who is exploited by new found 'friends'. Fox, the young man, is played by the director, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, in the only one of his films that dealt with male gay relationships. On its initial release, it was criticised by the gay community, but has since been welcomed as very forward thinking.
