Documentary, narrated by Dustin Hoffman, about the life and work of Samuel L. Goldwyn, Hollywood's first independent film producer. From humble beginnings as a European immigrant, Goldwyn rose to be one of the greatest producers of all time, with an output of 103 films boasting 100 Academy Awards between them, including Wuthering Heights, The Best Years of Our Lives, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Stella Dallas. Adapted from the biography by A. Scott Berg, the documentary features archive footage, film clips, home movies and interviews with stars including Merle Oberon, Laurence Olivier, Lillian Hellman, Danny Kaye and Bette Davis as well as insights from surviving members of the Goldwyn family.
