Synopsis

One of Europe's most controversial and iconoclastic film and theatre directors, Hans Jurgen Syberberg, attempts to explore the source within ourselves that generates a society like Nazi Germany. This seven-hour exploration of the Hitler phenomenon is in four parts: 'The Grail', 'A German Dream', 'The End of the Winter's Tale' and 'We, The Children of Hell'. His way of approaching this theme is by presenting Hitler in a variety of guises: a ventriloquist's dummy; Mr Punch; Napoleon; and Charlie Chaplin's Great Dictator.
