James Franco, Zachary Quinto and Emma Roberts star in this US biographical drama. The film follows the life of controversial gay rights activist Michael Glatze (Franco) beginning with his early life in San Francisco. It's here that he comes to terms with his sexuality during his time living with boyfriend Bennett (Quinto) and where his activism really begins while he starts out his career as a journalist for XY Magazine. However, his mother's passing causes Michael to question his past choices and he begins studying different religions and pondering whether he will be reunited with his mother in the afterlife. His new-found devout Christian faith leads him to rigorously study the Bible and become a pastor, a role he uses to denounce homosexuality to the shock of many of his previous followers.
