Brazilian drama following the struggles of a man who joins armed resistance against a brutal military regime. Though a democracy today, for much of the 20th century Brazil was under the control of authoritarian regimes. The film is set in the early 1970s, when the country suffered particularly severe repression and a number of covert organisations formed in resistance to the ruling authorities. Boni (Leonardo Machado), a young architectural student, is compelled to join one such organisation. The young man is aware, however, of the downsides of his choice to take up armed resistance. Not only is his own life at stake; he worries for the future of his wife, Cecelia (Fernanda Moro). As the struggle rages on, Boni will have to make decisions that pit his personal desires directly against his political beliefs, testing his commitment to the cause to the maximum.
