Synopsis

Valery Gergiev conducts a double bill of performances by the Metropolitan Opera, directed by Mariusz Trelinski. In Tchaikovsky's 'Iolanta', based on Henrik Hertz's play 'King René's Daughter', Anna Netrebko performs the role of the eponymous blind girl who falls in love for the first time. 'Bluebeard's Castle', composed by Bartók and based on Charles Perrault's tale 'La Barbe Bleue', stars Mikhail Petrenko as the title character and Nadja Michael as his new wife Judith who makes a horrifying discovery when she returns with Bluebeard to his castle.
