Double bill of biblical dramas. 'Jesus of Nazareth' (1977), Franco Zeffirelli's epic TV retelling of Jesus's life, was filmed in Morocco and Tunisia with an all-star cast including Robert Powell in the lead role. The script, co-written by renowned author Anthony Burgess, attempts to remain faithful to its source by using material from all four Gospels. Burt Lancaster stars in the 1975 mini-series 'Moses the Lawgiver' (1975) as the Old Testament prophet. Baby Moses is taken in and raised by an Egyptian princess when an edict is passed calling for the death of all first-born Hebrew babies. When his surrogate mother dies, Moses returns to his impoverished people, marrying Zipporah, Chief of the Midianites. While in the desert, Moses hears the voice of God instructing him to lead his people into the Promised Land of Israel.
