A collection of seven films starring John Wayne, featuring some of his most famous collaborations with directors John Ford and Howard Hawks, among others. Although Wayne will always be most associated with the Western genre, this box set includes two of his more successful departures from his traditional role: John Ford's 'Donovan's Reef' teams Wayne up with Lee Marvin in a light-hearted comedy romance, while Howard Hawks' 'Hatari!' is a comedy adventure set in an African big-game wildlife reserve. 'True Grit', directed by Henry Hathaway, shows Wayne in his most recognisable light, winning his first Academy Award as the determined and brutal US Marshall Rooster Cogburn, while Don Siegel directs Wayne in his final film, 'The Shootist', as legendary gunfighter John Bernard Books, looking for a dignified way to end his life after he is diagnosed with cancer. Films are: 'The Man who Shot Liberty Valance'; 'Donovan's Reef'; 'The Sons of Katie Elder'; 'True Grit'; 'Hatari!'; 'El Dorado' and 'The Shootist'.
