Synopsis

Written and directed by Kate Bush, who also appears as the central character alongside Miranda Richardson and Lindsay Kemp, the film is based upon songs from her album 'The Red Shoes' (the title of the Powell/Pressburger classic 1948 film which greatly influenced this film). The story involves Kate being giving a mysterious pair of red shoes whilst rehearsing in a dance studio and then being transported to a magical world through the mirror.
