Synopsis

Made-for-TV biopic of the United States congressman and black civil rights leader in the 1940s and 1950s, Adam Clayton Powell (Harry J. Lennix). As an old man, Powell is interviewed by a young reporter and looks back on his eventful life and career. Original a community preacher in Harlem, Powell is elected in 1945 as only the second black congressman in US history. He faces entrenched racism while fighting for greater civil rights for the black population, at the same time trying to deal with a tempestuous personal life that will evenually see him forced from office.
