Set in 1962 during the Algerian War of Independence in a boarding school in Evian, a young, Algerian-born frenchman, Henri, arrives and begins to disrupt the running of the school with attacks on the French Government and the Communists. In the process, he opens up new horizons to his fellow pupils. Based on the director's memories of his teenage years, this award winning film is a studied portrait of adolescence.
