Love and Death on Long Island Film Poster

Ivory-towered, London-based author Giles De'Ath (John Hurt) lives life undisturbed by modern culture. However, a chance viewing of the teen comedy 'Hotpants College II' in his local cinema, leads to him becoming besotted with one of its stars, Hollywood hunk Richie Bostock (Jason Priestley). Jolted out of his self-imposed period of cultural and social isolation, De'Ath travels across the ocean to Long Island to track down Bostock. This unusual romantic comedy is based on film critic Gilbert Adair's book, which in turn took its inspiration from Thomas Mann's novella 'Death in Venice'.
