Ten years ago Chris Cutter (Paul Gross, who also directed) left his hometown. Before his departure he threw his team's curling stones into the lake and left his bride-to-be Julie (Michelle Nolden) jilted at the altar. Now Coach Foley, the curling club's leader, wants to start the team again but while trying to retrieve the lost curling stones from the lake he has a heart attack and dies. Returning home for the funeral, Cutter decides to gather together a motley crew and, according to the coach's wishes, set about trying to win the Golden Broom Championship. He assembles the team members, reunites with his estranged father Gordon (Leslie Neilsen) and gets involved with his ex-fiancée's sister - a recovering alcoholic called Amy (Molly Parker).
