John Walsh writes and directs this British drama feature starring T.P. McKenna as the infamous English monarch, Henry VIII. Henry, who ruled England for 38 years, is remembered for his numerous marriages, bitter feud with the Roman Catholic Church and his gradual descent from dashing young ruler to obese and erratic megalomaniac. The action of the film takes place over one night in the final year of Henry's life. Having suffered an injury while travelling in England, the king and his aides seek refuge at a remote manor house. As Henry attempts to recover from his wound and the nagging suspicion that someone in his immediate circle may be plotting an attempt on his life, his sudden vulnerability makes him susceptible to haunting visions of his former queens (played by Jean Marsh) and other echoes from the past.
