Synopsis

Matthew Dunster directs this live performance of Martin McDonagh's humorous play set in 1960s England, recorded at the Royal Court Theatre. David Morrissey stars as Harry, Britain's second-most famous hangman on the day capital punishment is abolished. He is stewing over a pint and mulling over what to do next in his local pub in Oldham when he is joined by regulars and reporters anxious for his thoughts on the news. However, the congregation might not be quite as sympathetic as he would expect, including his old assistant Syd (Andy Nyman) and odd Southerner Mooney (Johnny Flynn).
