Five Parisians hop on to the romantic merry-go-round in Alain Resnais' first film for twenty years. Odile renews her acquaintance with ex-lover Nicolas, much to her husband Claude's displeasure. Both Odile and Nicolas are looking for an apartment with the same estate agents - Odile's search handled by the boss Marc, and Nicolas by his subordinate Simon. As Nicolas realises he is still attracted to his ex, despite being married, Simon falls for Odile's sister Camille. Camille, however, only has eyes for Marc. Resnais' tribute to Dennis Potter employs that writer's device of having characters lip-synch to popular songs.
