Frances Hannon is a millionairess who is kidnapped by the amoral 'Harry' (Adrien Brody) and forced to record a video ransom note in which she is buried alive in a coffin with only twenty-four hours of oxygen. Her abductor is demanding one million dollars to reveal the site where Frances is buried. Detective Madeline Foster (Maura Tierney) is assigned to the case, and when 'Harry' encounters Madeline he recognises that she is a kindred spirit, and that despite her work as a law enforcement agent, she has a dark, brooding side to her character. In order to solve the case Madeline must cross the line between herself and 'Harry' and enter into his disturbing world.
