A biography of the monacled space expert, who presented every one of the monthly Sky at Night programmes from 1957 (pre-dating the first satellite) onwards. In 1959, the Russians used his charts to correlate the first Lunik 3 pictures of the far side of the Moon, and he was also involved in the lunar mapping before the NASA Apollo missions. In 2001, he received a knighthood from the Queen and a BAFTA for his services to TV. He is also in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest serving television presenter.
