Inspired by the works of Jean Genet, debut director Todd Haynes interweaves three stories that deal in a stylistic manner with deviance. The three tales are: 'Hero' in which a boy kills his father and flies away; 'Homo', where a prisoner falls in love with a fellow inmate becoming drowned in obsession, fantasy and violence; and 'Horror', in which a doctor creates a serum containing the sex drive, a serum that he takes and becomes a monster. The film was the Grand Jury Prize Winner at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival.
