Synopsis

Robert Downey Snr's celebrated underground satire on race and capitalism in America. Employed as the token black executive at an all-white advertising company, Putney Swope (Arnold Johnson) is surprised to find himself elevated to the top position when the boss dies, and promptly decides the time is right for a radical rethink of company policy. Firing all but one of the white executives, changing the company name to 'Truth and Soul Inc.', and refusing to advertise alcohol, cigarettes and war toys, Putney both turns the company around and finds great success with promotions for such products as Ethereal Cereal. However, the Government see all this as a threat to national security and set out to undermine the enterprise.
