Gabriel (Francois Cluzet) and Francois (Guillaume Canet) are two brothers from a tough neighbourhood who have each grown up on different sides of the law. Gabriel is soon to be released from jail after serving ten years for murder, and his police inspector brother Francois is doing all he can to draw a line under their rivalrous past and help Gabriel reinstate himself in the outside world. But despite their good intentions, real life and the demons of the past catch up with the brothers, leading them to an impasse that even the strong bond of blood may not be able to overcome.
