Early '80s slasher movie. One of the highlights of the genre, due mainly to superior special effects and make-up by Tom Savini, the plot stems from events in 1945. After sending her soldier boyfriend a 'Dear John' letter, a young college graduate and her new boyfriend are horrifically murdered at that year's graduation dance. With the murderer never caught, the town refuses to hold another dance for the next 35 years. Jump forward to 1980 when the dance is finally reinstated, and it's not long before history repeats itself as a figure in military garb begins dispatching students in a variety of blood-splattering ways.
