Ruggles of Red Gap Film Poster

Classic comedy starring Charles Laughton as an English servant who undergoes a transformation after taking on a new post in America. The Earl of Burnstead (Roland Young), a proud upper class Englishman, loses his butler, Marmaduke Ruggles (Laughton), in a reckless bet during a poker game. The bewildered Ruggles suddenly finds himself in the employment of brash American Egbert Floud (Charles Ruggles) and transferred from his homeland to Red Gap in Washington. There are bound to be cultural lessons learned on both sides as Ruggles, very much a product of traditional England, attempts to get to grips with the American way of life.
