Bruno Ganz stars as aviation pioneer Antoine De Saint-Exupery in this BBC film of his life. Born in 1900 to an aristocratic French family, the young man falls in love with the idea of flying and takes to the air - often returning to the ground with a resounding bump. Dodging death on regular occasions, he comes perilously close to the big goodbye when he crashes in the Sahara desert. Wandering around for three days, he has to deal with dehydration, perilous conditions and torture at the hands of hostile nomads. Eventually escaping death, he uses his ordeal as the basis for his famous novel 'The Little Prince'.
