Synopsis

W.C. Fields makes a rare silent screen appearance in this adaptation of Dorothy Donnelly's stage success 'Poppy'. Loveable conman Professor Eustace McGargle (Fields) is forced to take orphaned waif Sally (Carol Dempster) under his wing, adopting her as his own daughter. McGargle's attempts to return Sally to her surviving family go awry when he discovers that her wealthy grandfather is a judge - with a low opinion of shysters of any kind!
