A strange androgynous figure (k.d. lang) named Kotz turns up in the Alaskan settlement of Kotzebue, demanding information from the widowed German librarian Roswitha (Rosel Zech). The two begin a friendship and a search through the past for Kotz's true identity. This film, from the director of `Bagdad Cafe' and `Rosalie Goes Shopping' was especially written for country singer lang, who makes her screen debut.
