A double bill of Christopher Nupen films on the life and music of composer Franz Schubert. 'The Trout' (1969), is a film about five musicians, Daniel Barenboim, Itzhak Perelman, Pinchas Zuckerman, Jacqueline Du Pre and Zubon Mehta, who got together to play Schubert's 'Trout Quintet'. It also captures the week leading up to the final performance, plus the complete performance in the new Queen Elizabeth Hall on August 30th 1969. 'The Greatest Love and the Greatest Sorrow' (1994) tells the story of the life of Schubert almost entirely through the music he wrote in the last months of his life.
