Synopsis

Musical double bill. 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' stars Howard Keel as Adam Pontabee, a recently married rancher who brings his bride Milly (Jane Powell) back to live on the ranch with him and his six unruly brothers. Shocked at their bad manners, Milly begins to coach the boys in the ways of polite society and accidentally gives them the idea of kidnapping six eligible young ladies for the purposes of marriage. Includes the songs 'Bless Your Beautiful Hide' and 'Lonesome Polecat'. In 'Singin' in the Rain', the year is 1927, and Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly, who co-directs) has worked his way up from being a song-and-dance man with partner Cosmo Brown (Donald O'Connor) to become a top movie star. His on-screen partner, Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen), who believes that Don loves her for real, needs to have her awful singing voice dubbed with the arrival of talkies. The girl selected is 'serious' actress Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds), for whom Don soon falls. Musical numbers include the famous title song and 'Make 'Em Laugh', 'Good Morning' and 'You Were Meant for Me'.
