Fourth season of eight episodes of the offbeat and outrageous Channel 4 family drama following the lives and loves of the anarchic Gallagher family, who live on a rough council estate in Manchester. Mum went AWOL years ago, leaving eldest daughter Fiona (Anne-Marie Duff) to look after her five younger siblings while dad Frank (David Threlfall) hits the bottle so often it's begun to hit back. In this series Lip's 18th is a less than happy occasion when it turns out the Maguires want a favour from him and his long lost mum shows up. Frank, to try and hide from Sheila that he's still married to Monica, tries to reunite Monica with her lesbian lover. Monica, it appears, has lost her taste for Sapphic love and instead seduces the hapless Frank, leading to all kinds of heat from Sheila and a showdown of the brassy harridans, neither of whom is prepared to share.
