Synopsis

Reports of a weeping statue of the Virgin Mary in Italy reach Las Vegas, where blackjack dealer Maggie (Maria Pitillo) has just learnt she has only weeks to live. With a massive leap of faith she convinces herself that seeing the statue with her own eyes could lead to her salvation, and travels to Europe to find it. Hitching through Italy, she meets pianist Mike (William McNamara), who is also en route to what he believes could be a life-changing event - a performance at the Barbarina concert in Naples. The couple fall in love, but when Mike discovers the Virgin Mary is a fake he is faced with a tough decision. Should he abandon the search he has begun with Maggie or continue on the quest which gives his lover her only sense of hope? The title song is performed by Placido Domingo, with lyrics by Tim Rice.
