Synopsis

Award-winning South African political drama directed by Mark Dornfield May, which transposes the gospel story to an authoritarian black African state during a bloody civil war. Jesus (Andile Kosi), a revolutionary Gandhi-esque figure preaching non-violent opposition, leads a band of disciples that includes four women. When a military dictatorship moves in to occupy the war-torn country, Jesus is regarded as a subversive and a threat to its authority, and is shot and buried in an unmarked grave.
